Nowadays, it is common to see a teenager holding a cell-phone. But what you might not know is that a cell-phone, nowadays, is not just a fun device that you can use to call your mother. A cell-phone is a multi-tasking, multi-functional technological tool that even Star-trek characters could have used. Is it as technologically-advanced as Spok’s Tri-corder? Maybe not, but I doubt that even that had unlimited texts and mobile to mobile capabilities!
The truth is that cell phones are slowly taking the place of many things these days. With so many people on the go, the cell phone is the ultimate choice of many businessmen and women. A cell phone is not only taking the place of the simple telephone, but it is also replacing computers! How? Well, here are a few ways. First, cell phones are more portable than even a laptop. Many now have wi-fi, so you can access the internet anywhere. You can email, Myspace, Facebook, and even text message on cell phones now… all things which you used to need a pc for.
What else are cell phones doing nowadays? Well, they are taking digital pictures and video. This media is directly unloadable to your computer, which is so handy for taking pics and video that many people do not even need a camera unless they are professionals. Cell phones are also becoming voice activated. This means that you can simply say “search Google for best restaurants” and you can have the results right at your fingertips. Now, note this feature is not available on all phones, but hey… it is only a matter of time!
How far will cell-phones go? Well, the sky is the limit really. One thing is for certain though… that cell phones will continue to evolve, and with it the need for other things will continue to diminish. Who knows, maybe we will all text instead of talk in the future! Weirder things have happened….
